AutoCAD skills are used across civil, architecture, interiors and mechanical work. Here's where they can take you, and how to become job-ready.

AutoCAD is one of the most widely used drawing tools in design and construction. Learning it opens doors across several industries, not just one.
Civil and construction: CAD drafters prepare site plans, building plans, sections and working drawings for contractors, consultants and builders.
Architecture and interiors: architects and interior designers rely on accurate floor plans, elevations, furniture layouts and presentation drawings, all drafted in CAD.
Mechanical and manufacturing: companies need part drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication details with correct dimensions and tolerances.
Common starting roles include CAD Drafter, Draughtsman, Design Assistant and CAD Operator. With experience and more software such as 3D modelling, many people move on to design engineer or senior drafter roles.
